When using these data types, SSIS transforms your non-Unicode data types (varchar and text) to Unicode and back again, which works fine if the length of the data in the column is shorter than 8000 characters. However, if the text is longer than 8000 characters you will get an error like this: Error 0xc0204016: SSIS.Pipeline: The "output column "Description" (168)" has a length that is not valid. The length must be between 0 and 8000. (SQL Server Import and Export Wizard)

All the tables in the Sql Azure require a clustered index. Heap Tables are not supported in Sql Azure. Hence if any of your tables doesn’t contain one, you need to create the Clustered index on the table before you insert data into the table. If you create the table without the Clustered index it will execute but will give error as soon as you execute insert script. For creating Clustered Index use following Script “create clustered index CITagMappingId on Tag .TagMapping(TagMappingId)”.

Connect to the Sql Azure Database using Sql Server Management Studio and run these script.

Once the table structure is ready follow the below steps to migrate the data.

In the Sql server management studio right click on the database which you want to export to Sql Azure and select Tasks -> Export Data.

In the Choose a Data Source step, select the proper authentication, database and click on Next

In Choose a Destination step, from Destination drop down select .Net Framework Data Provider for SqlServer

Enter the values as shown in the below figure. Initially when I started doing it, google recognized my IP and tracked it down to India and gave me a message stating "Sorry the phone is not available in your country". Disappointed I started looking for sites where I can get a secure proxy server so that I can route my request to the google site through a proxy server. Secure because I would be doing a money transaction. This site can be used for doing so. http://www.proxz.com/subscribe.html
Then once you do that you will need to configure your browser to use this proxy server. This is pretty much illustrated in this post.

http://www.yugatech.com/how-to-configure-proxy-ip-in-your-browser/

Once you are done, you should be able to purchase it. Spent it very lazily. Didn't do anything expect washing regular clothes. Totally contrast with what i did last weekend. That's nice was a much needed break for me. I haven't been anywhere since long and for a person like me who loves travelling this was just the chance i was looking for. What a chance it was. I got to meet my Pune gang. All my friends from School and College with whom I am most comfortable with. There is some kind of different relationship that exist between you and your school/college friends. You don't have to pretend to be someone else like you have to do with other people. You can just be yourself and belive me no matter how old we grow, with them we will be always be what we used to be in school and college.
Goa was a fun. We had three days for fun. After a long chain of mails which surprisingly continued for complete one month, finally 10 of us agreed to do this trip. Interestingly the first mail that was shooted up by one of my friend was a pretty senti one. Reading it I decided no matter what happens I am gonna make this trip.

Logs of goa trip will come in next blogs..............

Some scribbing....

After a long time scribbing some thing....
These days revising Friends episodes have become my daily activity. kind of finished 5 seaons completely, and might complete season 6 this weekend. Had done it previously but with Windows Server 2003 and IIS 6.0. Thought it would be same this time also. But alas life is not that simple tough..... :). Listing done the issues i faced and their solution

1) Mine intranet server is pretty loaded with SQL server 2008 and also has TFS server 2008. WSS are installed on port 80. Hence when i tried to publish the site, it gave error "The following file(s) "....dll" have been blocked by the administrator:"

Solution:- After some googling around, I discovered that I was trying to publish this site on port 80 which was also hosting sharepoint site and as such the sahrepoint central admin was blocking the files. To change this, I went to sharepoint central administration site-> Operations -> Blocked Files. Allow dll and files which you want to publish by removing the extension from the list. Should solve your problem too.

2) Frontpage extensions were required on the server 2008 on which i was publishing the site. By default it doesnot come with the server installation, we need to explicitly install it. You can download the same from http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/134/install-frontpage-server-extensions/

2.1) Once installed enable it on wesite which you wan to use for publishing. use can use following command. C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Web Server Extensions\50\bin\OWSADM.exe -o install -p 1001

You will get following error if this not configured :-

2.2) Once this is done you will have to configure auntentication for the site using IIS 7. Frontpage requires Windows or Basic Auntentication. Configure the same. In case this is not done you will receive following error.
>

Once i did this I was able to publish my site onto the server.

Ref:-http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/387/using-visual-studio-2008-with-iis-70/

eScumCache Error

If You receive System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: c:\Windows\Temp\eScrumCache when project users tries to access eScrum Site, please give all eScrum users rights to the modify, read, and write permissions to following directories. This is the first time I am involving myself in such activity or frankly speaking writing activity so I am bound to commit mistakes. Please bear with it. Over with justification and will come straight to elaborate what this blog is all about. In this blog shares with you my experience of “Wayanad” trek which I went with my office colleagues on June 15, 2007. The idea creeped into minds on June 11, 2007 and we were off to Wayanad on June 15, 2007. This was all made possible by one of our colleague named Harikrishna G.N. Rai. He was the PM for this tour.

Before going forward, let me introduce you to our team, starting from left, Sivaram, Anurag, Rishi, Sunil Vuppala, Myself, Sai Deepak, Kishor and Hari.

We started of from our office at 4:00 PM on June 15. We had already decided that we will be bringing our trek bags to office itself and will leave from here. Initially we were to start at 4:30 PM but as everybody was ready at 4:00 Pm we started off early. To avoid the heavy Bangalore traffic, which I am really scared of, we took NICE road which goes to Banergaatta and then connects to Mysore road. As per Hari’s calculation we approximately saved 2 hours by going this way. The road was really nice. Our Qualis almost touched 100 KM/Hr on this road, as expected Mysore road was also nice. We took our evening tea at MTR (Maddur Tiffin) which was on Mysore Highway and which is famous for its Vada. I was surprised to see CCD outlet on this road too.
We were at Mysore at around 8:00. Without stopping there we straight away continued our journey. We watched Dhoom2 meanwhile, which I had not seen earlier, and I should admit that Ash and Hrithik were looking really good.
The road from Mysore till Wayanad is mostly through forest. Hari told us that it is extended part of “Bandipur” forest. While we were crossing forest area at one check post of Karnataka state one PSI openly demanded bribe of Rs20/- from us. We told him to check our vehicle. But he frankly said that give us the bribe or else he will fine us. Finally our driver managed to settle him without paying any amount.
Meanwhile we crossed Kerala border at around 10:00PM. We paid all the necessary taxes and moved forward. From there it was just 45 Minutes road to our “Dwaraka Hotel” which was at “Sultan Bathery” and was booked by Hari earlier itself. Hotel was a pretty decent one. To fill up our tummy we went to a local hotel which was suggested by our Hotel manager and tasted the local Kerala food Fish curry, Parota, typical Kerala rice, Fish fry etc, which was decent enough considering the time at which we went there. We decided that we will go on a jog early morning the next day at 5:30 AM.

Day 1, June 16, 2007

Early morning our boys woke up and went to jog. I, Anurag and Sai decided to skip the jog for that extra 30 minutes sleep. By 7:00 AM we all were ready and the first thing we visited was an ancient Jain Temple, Kidanganad, which is now a protected sight
by Archeological Survey of India. The temple was a really ancient one. It was a Lord Mahavir’s temple. Caretaker of the temple informed us that the idol of Mahavir was destroyed as the temple was used by Tipu Sultan’s army to keep arms and ammunitions there. Photography inside the temple was prohibited.

                                                                   Entrance of temple

                                                              Outside View of Temple
After taking blessings of Lord Mahavir, we went ahead to have our breakfast. We were looking for typical Kerala breakfast and I think we were lucky enough to find a hotel which was named “Hotel Jubilee”. We had Appam, Idiappam, and some typical Kerala curries. A special mention should be of Hot Water they serve which is boiled by adding root of some tree in it.
Hot water boiled by keeping root of tree in it

After having a heavy breakfast we started off towards our next destination “Edakkal Caves”.
                                                            Board outside Edakkal Caves
From this point we did a 1km trek to reach the Edakkal Caves. This 1km trek was a simple one, but the road is very steep. Only four wheel drive vehicle are able to go till Edakkal caves. From there to reach the hill top we did rock climbing and trekking.
                                                           Boys doing Rock Climbing
View from mountain top. Atmosphere filled up with clouds.
When we reached at top we were unable to see anything below down due to the amount of fog. We were literally above clouds. I should admit that this view was really worth looking and capturing. But wait Nature had something more for us… After sometime the whole clouds cleared up and bang……… the whole greenery was in front of us. All the mountains, the trees everything out there was really too good. The chilling wind also felt very good at that time.
View from top after the clouds cleared off.
Okay getting down was a bit tougher than climbing up. We really had to make use of all our body especially A*& to get down. But finally all made it safely to the base camp or Edakkal Caves. We then went inside the caves to have a look and there was this largest collection of petroglyphs in India, dating back to the Neolithic period in B.C. 4000-1500. These caves were named Edakkal because there is a huge rock in there which is hanging in air supported by caves on three sides. “Eda” in Kannada means narrow and “Kal” means Rock. We could find carvings inside the caves which were done by Neolithic men.
Huge rock hanging in air supported by Caves on three sides
The caretaker of the caves told us some interesting facts about these carvings and these caves. The caves were founded by some English Man, (name I forgot). He also told that these Neolithic men used mostly geometric figures for carving purposes.
Carving depicting leader of the tribe
With this we completed our first place on our list. I must admit that we took a lot of time in this place itself. With short on time we proceeded to our next destination which was “Karapuzha” dam. The dam was not yet completed and the construction of dam was going on when we visited there.
                                                                Karapuzha Dam
Since we were late on our schedule we skipped our lunch and instead decided to feed our tummies with the bakery items we had collected in the morning. Our next destination was “Meenmutti” Falls.
Well this was the highlight of our entire trekking. I will like to give a brief introduction about these falls before proceeding forward.
These falls are situated dense inside the forest. To visit these falls we need to climb down the mountain and dense forest area. The trekking path is about 4-5 Km long. With this in mind we reached to a point were our quails could last go. After this point we need to trek 4-5 Km to reach this falls. Don’t know what nature had for us this time. As soon as we reached this point it started raining very heavily. It had also rained the previous day. So the road was full slippery. Some local guys told us not to go forward as the road was very slippery and the trek could be very difficult to take. Finally we managed to get one local guy who decided to accompany us and guide us all along to the falls. I should admit, the trek was really really a difficult one. All of us slipped once. Anurag stayed back, as he was not willing to take a chance.
Boys trekking on the way to Meenmutti falls
Finally after an hour of trekking and slipping, we managed to get near the falls. Man the view was just too good to describe. Since it was raining the falls were in full strength. Our boys went still further near the falls.
                                                                   Meenmutti falls
The way back was not as hard as we had expected earlier. We managed to get back within just within half an hour. In the end it was only because of the collective effort of our team we were able to get back safely and in piece. After a hard trek we had butter milk at the base which was really what we wanted at that stage.
From there we started of back to our hotel as it was getting late. We decided to skip other sight seeing places decided for that day as we were tired and also it was getting late. We took a different route this time. On the way back we were once more delighted to see the lush green tea estate on our way back to the hotel. The road was also too good. We stopped our vehicle and ambled on that road.

Tea estate on way back to our hotel
After few minutes of stop we again started our journey. As we were feeling hungry we decided to stop at town which was in way and had some hot Aloo Bonda and tea. This was exactly what we wanted after our exhausting day. Reaching our hotel we got refreshed and started off for our dinner. But since everybody’s shoes were drenched we decided to buy some slippers. Everyone ended up buying a slipper for himself that night.
                                                             Slippers we bought.
Our next search was for hotels were we could have got traditional Kerala dinner. But I am sorry to say we were all disappointed on this front. We did manage to get one hotel but the food served was really bad. Even though it being a Kerala, since it was a hilly area we could not get fresh fish any where. Some how we managed to fill ourselves and went back to hotel to call off the day. This was the end of day one. All in all it was a good but tiresome day.

Day 2, 21 June 17, 2007

Our second day started with a visit to “Mathanga wild life sanctuary”. We went inside the jungle and came back in just a hour. We could only manage to see Elephant and Dears. But still seeing them in there natural habitat was good.
                                                                  Group of Dears
                                                                               Elephant

This forest touches the borders of three states. On the left is Karnataka state and the forest is known as “Bandipur”. Straight we have Tamil Nadu border, and to the right we have Kerala. Where else will you get to see three states at a single point? After a brief visit to the forest we returned back to the hotel, and started our day two.
Day two was mostly occupied with sight seeing places. First We had a visit to Kalpetta. Next we went to “Pookot lake”. This is a natural fresh water lake surrounded by mountains on three sides. Boating and horse riding facilities are provided here. We did boating and due to lack of time could not do horse riding.
                                                                        Pookot Lake

Then on we moved to “Lakkidi View point”. The view from here was really breathtaking. Sometimes we could all the area covered by clouds which were beneath us and then suddenly the clouds would disappear and would give us a chance to view to the scenic and green view of Wayanad. This was really good.
                                                                      Lakkidi View Point
                                                              Lakkidi View Point

Our next sight was a “Chain Tree”. There is a chain tied to this tree. A story is associated with this tree and the chain. It is said that the chain grows automatically with the tree.
                                                                          Chain Tree
From there on we started our journey to “Banasura Sagar Dam”. It is the largest earth dam. Nothing mush to say about this place. Must be it was, due to lack of water in this dam.
                                                               Banasura Sagar Dam

Then we started our journey to the last spot of this trek which was “Thirunelli Temple”. This temple is dedicated to Vishnu by Brahma. Since Non Hindus were not allowed inside as is prevalent in most of the temples in Kerala, I can’t describe much about it.
                                                               Thirunelli Temple
This was the last part of our trek. From here we started of our journey from this beautiful and scenic place to our good old Bangalore. We took a different route this time. While coming back we could see Rabbit, Bison, Dear and a Elephant. This provided a finishing touch to our trek which was really needed. The road condition was really bad for 30 Kms. Then onwards it was nice.

We reached Bangalore at around 1:00 AM. All in all it was a really nice experience to dwell in the company of nature and experience the richness of nature. It is a perfect place to spend your weekend.

I am thankful of all the members of my team for making this trek a memorable one, especially we all are thankful of Hari. He was the one who chalked out all the plans. His knowledge of Malayalam came very handy when communicating with the local guys.

Sunil Haste.

Trip to Chikamangalur

Hi this week i had a trek to chickamangalur.
